What is it?

Wonderstruck         All the Light We Cannot See

This year the Meridian Library District launches our first ever Meridian Reads. We want to encourage our community to read a thought-provoking book and participate in conversations and events that explore topics and themes from that book. Our hope is to engage the entire community in a shared experience that fosters civic unity through the reading and discussion of literature.

We asked for votes, and this fall the people of Meridian chose All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr. The youth companion novel isWonderstruck by Brian Selznick. Both books weave history and science into their narratives.

For this inaugural Meridian Reads we will kick off at City Hall at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7. Along with this we are planning a number of educational, scientific, and cultural events over the next couple of months to highlight aspects of both stories.

Join one of our Open Book Clubs at the Meridian Library on Cherry Lane. Come join in the conversation at any of these times! Each book club meets at 10:00 a.m. on the following dates: January 16, February 4, February 17, February 18, and February 20. (Small Conference Room - Meridian Library on Cherry Lane.)
